Cash management: Deepali Pant Joshi, Executive Director of the Reserve Bank of India, at a meeting with Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi on Friday.

Deepali Pant Joshi, Executive Director of the Reserve Bank of India, on Friday took stock of the currency management position of banks in Puducherry five months after the demonetisation of the ₹1,000 and ₹500 notes.

Ms. Joshi inspected various bank branches along with D. Devaraj, State Lead Bank Convener, Indian Bank, and verified the currency status.

Later, Ms. Joshi met Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi and discussed the demonetisation impact in Puducherry. The RBI official briefed Ms. Bedi about the steps taken by the RBI to ease the currency position and improve cash availability in the Union Territory.

Ms. Joshi commended the efforts to keep Puducherry clean and green, making a special mention of the neatness of the beach.
