Raj Nivas on Sunday brought together 13 schools, colleges and several non governmental organisations to observe the World Earth Day.

Students from schools and colleges along with members of NGOs gathered at the Botanical Garden on Sunday morning to participate in environment friendly activities.

In a message, Lt. Governor Kiran Bedi said students painted the walls of the garden and planted saplings.

The educational institutions and the NGOs have agreed to adopt portions of the garden to protect and preserve it.

ID cards

The volunteers would be given identity cards so that they could enter the garden for conservation work.

The places not adopted would be offered to interested individuals and organisations, she said.

Ms Bedi said organic waste management pits would be made in the garden.

The Lt Governor also interacted with students and shared her views on nature conservation.
