Heavy rains accompanied by strong winds lashed various parts of Puducherry on Saturday providing much needed respite to people from sweltering heat conditions.

The heavy downpour resulted in water logging in many parts of the town areas and it caught the civic authorities unaware.

Moderate to heavy rainfall also occurred in several places in neighbouring Cuddalore and Villupuram districts.

Average rainfall

The average rainfall recorded in Cuddalore district in the last 24 hours ending at 8.30 a.m. on Saturday is 71.70 mm with Cuddalore recording 13.90 mm.
