Ponmudi among 415 arrested in Villupuram

About 415 cadres of the DMK led by former Minister K. Ponmudi on Friday staged a black flag demonstration condemning Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit’s meeting with government officials of various departments in Villupuram during his visit to the district. They were later released.

Mr. Ponmudi along with MLAs Masthan, Radhamani, Masilamani, Udaya Suriyan, Vasantham Karthikeyan, Seethapathy Chokkalingam and functionaries of the Congress and Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi tried to show black flags to Mr. Purohit, who held a review meeting with officials.

Holding black flags and placards, the functionaries, led by Mr. Ponmudi, raised slogans against the Governor.
