Police bust prostitution racket, six arrested

The Puducherry police on Thursday busted a prostitution racket which was operating under the guise of a massage parlour.

Senior Superintendent of Police (Law and Order), Rajiv Ranjan said that four pimps including Karthik of Villupuram district, Sakthivel, Saraswathy and Tamizhselvi of Puducherry were arrested. The accused have been charged under Sections 3(2)(a), 4(2)(c), 5(1)(d), 6(1)(b) of the Immoral Trafficking Act, 2016.

He stated that six victims were rescued during the operation.

Acting on a tip-off that a massage parlour was running as a prostitution den within the limits of Orleanpet Police Station, a special task force led by Inspector Karthikeyan and Sub Inspector Ramesh was constituted to keep close watch on the activities of the parlour.

The owner of the parlour named Radhika alias Arokiamarie is absconding.
