Police asked to check trial rooms

April 10, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 07:55 am IST - PUDUCHERRY:

Civil society organisation 5th Pillar has approached Puducherry Police with a request to conduct a check on trial rooms in apparel showrooms in Puducherry, in the wake of the Fab India case in which Union Minister Smriti Irani has alleged that the trial room of the store in Goa was being filmed.

As Puducherry also attracts a large number of tourists like Goa, the police must conduct checks on apparel showrooms to ensure no such incident occurs here, said Sakthivel, secretary, 5th Pillar.

This step is necessary to ensure the safety of not just women tourists, but also women residents of the town, he said. He added that authorities concerned must extend checks to changing rooms at work places, given the chances of misusing technology.
