The Punjab National Bank (PNB), which has four branches in the UT, is looking to expand its presence, Vinod Joshi, Zonal Manager-South Zone of the bank has said.
Mr. Joshi, who along with Nasim Ahamad, Circle Head in Chennai, met Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy on Saturday, said the bank was eager to partner with the government in the development of the UT, including its various digital initiatives.
Meanwhile, the PNB organised a credit camp at Hotel Jayaram, adjacent to its branch on Kamaraj Salai, where sanction letters with a total value of about Rs. 5.20 crore was distributed to 127 beneficiaries.
The sanction letters were issued under various schemes of the bank in categories such as agriculture, housing, car, education loans, power ride (two-wheeler finance for women), Mudra and Stand-up India schemes of the Government of India.
According to Mr. Ahamed, the bank conducted a programme for helping needy people with loans.
