A large number of ousted workers of various corporations, Public Works Department and firms on Friday thronged the Chief Minister N. Rangasamy’s Office here demanding immediate reinstatement.

When they were about to enter the Chief Minister’s chamber, police stopped them near the gate.

The workers insisted that they should be allowed to meet Mr. Rangasamy to air their grievances. But, policemen allowed a few leaders of the ousted workers association to meet Mr. Rangasamy in his chamber.

Reminding Mr. Rangasamy about his assurance on reinstatement made in the floor of the Assembly, the workers urged him to take steps immediately. Mr. Rangasamy reportedly told them his government was very much in favour of reinstating eligible workers.

Instructions had been given to the officials concerned to take steps . Files had been moved in this regard. However, they were pending in some places, and he would again tell the officials to expedite the process.

Mr. Rangasamy also said that the Chief Secretary had gone to New Delhi to attend meetings, and the process would gain momentum once he returned.
