The Oulgaret Municipality, which has introduced several proactive steps to remove garbage clearance, now asked all government offices in its jurisdiction to utilise its services to keep their campuses clean and tidy.

The largest municipality in the Union Territory of Puducherry removes garbage of nearly 120 tonnes per day generated from three lakh residents. It has introduced WhatsApp messenger handle to receive complaints about garbage pile-ups and receives e-mail complaints throughom.pon@nic.in and comnrom.pon@nic.in.

In continuation to its efforts, the municipality said any government office may approach them with relevant particulars for keeping their premises clean.

M.S. Ramesh, Municipal Commissioner said, “The municipality has been removing garbage/waste generated by residents at streets and roads in its limit every day. Under Swachh Bharat programme, keeping government offices and their surroundings clean is essential one.” The Municipality also asked the government offices to mail their requirements and photographs of the status of their respective campuses.
