Hemalata Prasad, one of the surviving Ashram sisters evicted from Sri Aurobindo Ashram commenced an indefinite hunger fast in front of the head post office here on Monday demanding the police to file an FIR against trustees of the Ashram for abetment to suicide.

No FIR

Ms. Hemalata said that the police had not filed an FIR or made arrests in the issue of abetment of suicide nearly seven months after two of the sisters and their mother died in a family suicide bid following their eviction from the Ashram.

Though repeated representations were made to senior police officials to register an FIR no action has been taken by the police. She demanded that the three surviving sisters should be reinstated and extended with all facilities at the Ashram.

Ms. Hemalata claimed the Puducherry Government had also not acted on the directive of the National Human Rights Commission to provide them with food and all facilities.
