Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy hosted an iftar party on the Waqf Board premises here on Thursday evening.

Mr. Narayanasamy said Ramzan promoted compassion, tolerance and universal brotherhood. “We must invoke the teachings of the Prophet and adopt them and promote equality and brotherhood,” he said.

Those who participated in the Iftar party included Deputy Speaker V.P. Sivakolunthu, Ministers A. Namassivayam, M. Kandasamy, and M.O.H.F. Shahjahan, R. Kamalakannan, MLAs A. Anbalagan, R.K.R. Anantharaman and former legislators A.V. Subramanian and S.P. Sivakumar. Representatives from the CPI, the CPI(M) and the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi were present.

The Puducherry Waqf Board, led by its chairman V.P. Abdul Rahman, lent support to the event.
