MP calls for ending retrenchment

August 23, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 12:04 pm IST - PUDUCHERRY:

Member of Parliament R. Radhakrishnan has appealed to the government to stop retrenchment of employees appointed in various government departments and undertakings.

In a representation to Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi and Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy, he said taking them out of the job would deprive them of their livelihood means. The employees were rendering service for the last two-and-a-half years, he pointed out.

Mr. Radhakrishnan has urged the Chief Minister to take back the employees retrenched from the Public Works Department, Puducherry Tourism Development Corporation and other cooperative societies.

He appealed to the Lt. Governor and Chief Minister to generate more employment opportunities rather than sacking those who had already landed jobs.
