Peeved at the government’s inaction in curbing stray dog menace, an MLA on Wednesday warned that he would catch the dogs and let them into the Assembly and other offices of local bodies unless the government takes strong measures on this front.
Painting a sorry state of affairs, Mr. Anbalagan AIADMK MLA said the public have been facing numerous difficulties due to this menace. As 100-odd dogs are roam the roads, they posing a threat to two wheeler riders, he said.
“There are no vaccinations available for dog bites in Government Hospital. It is anguishing to see that Government has been lethargic on issues relating to lives of people and when children are succumbing to rabies,” said Mr. Anbalagan.
Mr. Anbalagan said the municipality was often a mute spectator to the explosion in the population of potentially rabid stray dogs.
Urging the Government to take strong action, he suggested that the organisations which are supportive of dogs should rear such dogs in their household without causing nuisance to others.
