Man held for house break-ins

The Puducherry police have taken into custody a 27-year-old man involved in a series of house break-ins in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

The accused, identified as S. Narendhiran of Thiruverkadu near Chennai, was arrested by the Kandamangalam police in Villupuram district on Monday.

Surveillance up

Deputy Inspector-General of Police (Law and Order) Rajiv Ranjan said that a team led by circle inspectors Arumugam and Shanmugasundaram was formed to probe a series of house break-ins at the Mangalam and Thirukkanur police station limits.

The team mounted surveillance on known offenders in Puducherry and the neighbouring districts of Tamil Nadu and zeroed in on Narendhiran. During interrogation, Narendhiran confessed to his involvement in a series of house break-ins.

A total of 9 sovereigns was recovered from him.
