The Puducherry police on Saturday busted a forgery racket involving eight persons and seized hundreds of fake government seals and rubber stamps resembling the ones used by government agencies.
During a press meet held on Saturday, Senior Superintendent of Police (Law and Order) Rajiv Ranjan said the fraudsters had been selling fake degree certificates, including for MBBS and MBA courses. They even issued eight fake court orders — seven related to Puducherry District court and Madras High Court.
All fake court judgments they issued were related to property cases. “The fraudsters who were running shops on the pavement of M.G.Road and in Lawspet have even issued Aadhaar card and fake marks sheets. We have seized loads of documents and more than 300 fake rubber stamps, old typewriting machines, scanners, laptops, computer and printer,” he added.
Eight persons, including Sendur Samy (53) of G.N.Palayam, Arumparthapuram, Subramani (40), resident of Muthialpet, Daniel (53) of Kurunji Nagar, Raja alias Rajalingam (41) of Sulthanpet, Mohan (36) of Oulgaret, Iyyapan alias Manikandan (39) of M.G.R.Nagar, Raman Nagar, Lawspet, Francis (54) of Ashok Nagar, Lawspet, Sundaralingam alias Thakkali Sundar (42) of Thilaspet were arrested.
On March 31, the Muthialpet police and the Special Task Force apprehended a person at the Grand Bazaar area. While investigating the accused, Sendur Samy, who was running a shop on the pavement of M.G.Road. He used to issue Aadhaar cards, birth certificates, court orders, power of attorney, marks sheet, transfer certificate forging documents.
