Court proceedings were hit on Friday when lawyers attached to the Pondicherry Bar Association boycotted courts demanding to fill the post of the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) which has been lying vacant.
Sources in the Pondicherry Bar Association, which represents about 800 lawyers, said that the decision to boycott courts was taken at the general body meeting held on Monday. The complex houses 13 courts.
In another resolution the association also decided to felicitate Chief Minister N. Rangasamy for announcing November 1 as the Liberation Day of Puducherry.
