Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi participated in the games organised for rural women to celebrate the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) in Soriyankuppam village in Bahour in Puducherry on Saturday.

Women from Self-Help Groups of Soriyankuppam and surrounding villages played handball and tug-of-war at a temple ground. Ms. Bedi planted tree saplings at the temple ground. She emphasised that participation in games and events like collective tree sapling helps to strengthen the unity among people. She advised the villagers to keep their houses and surroundings clean and free from stagnant water to prevent breeding of mosquitoes spreading dengue fever. She called upon the women to avail of loan extended by Nabarad and not from money lenders.
