The cluster of MSME industrial units in the city offer a variety of internship opportunities for students of technical courses, Lieutenant Governor A.K. Singh has said.

Mr. Singh, who inspected various departments and laboratories of the Pondicherry Engineering College on Thursday, also took the views of students on their perception of the facilities available at the institution.

He also wanted the management to strengthen industry-institution interface to facilitate a higher level of exposure for the students to the contemporary industrial scenario and boost their employability. Mr. Singh specifically suggested collaboration with MSMEs which could provide hands-on practical experience and stressed the need for workshops to keep students abreast of new advances in technology and learn from invited experts. Better still the institution could foster creative thinking and entrepreneurial verve to groom students as job-givers rather than jobseekers.

During the interaction, the students sought additional infrastructure in the college. An increased involvement of the alumni in the betterment of the college was also mooted. The Lt. Governor promised the students that the government would extend all support to the college, to provide quality education to the students.
