Heavy rain lashed many parts of Puducherry on Wednesday.

The downpour inundated many low-lying residential areas and caused traffic disruption due to water-logging on arterial roads.

The rain that started around 9.30 a.m. continued till late in the day causing hardship to residents. Several low-lying residential areas such as Karuvadikuppam and Mudaliarpet were affected.

Traffic along the major roads, including the East Coast Road, Airport Road and 100-feet-road, was affected due to flooding.

The Port Department hoisted the flag denoting a “Signal 1” at the Cuddalore port indicating formation of a low-pressure could intensify into a deep depression.
