The legendary Harley-Davidson machines arrived in Puducherry on Sunday amid a flutter of excitement, which quickly gave way to disappointment among avid bikers in the city.
The Coromandel Harley-Davidson, Lathangi Cycle and Carriage Private Limited, had organised a free test ride at Promenade Hotel on Beach Road on Sunday.
Though it was scheduled to start at 11 a.m., bike enthusiasts were at the venue by 10.30 a.m. They brought their licence and got themselves registered for a test ride.
Lucky enthusiasts
While a few like Udaya Shankar, professor and HoD, Dermatology at Indira Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute (IGMCRI), got the opportunity to enjoy the ride , several others were not so lucky.
Even before a third enthusiast could get the chance to test ride, the traffic police stopped the bikers.
The two Harley-Davidson motorcycles were taken to the traffic police station on Nehru Street.
Unfortunately, the organisers had forgotten to take police permission for conducting the test ride.
