First-of-its-kind public hearing for children

For the first time in Puducherry, the Child Welfare Committee, Government of Puducherry, is organising a public hearing for children on Wednesday (May 18).

This public hearing will specifically address school admissions for drop outs, street children and children seeking alms, abandoned or neglected or surrendered children.

They will conduct counselling and career development consultancy and provide rehabilitation, health care and legal aid services. The CWC also addresses problems of children who have faced sexual abuse or assault or harassment, child marriage, teenage pregnancy (rape) and help children facing various problems both at their homes and schools, child labour, POCSO cases, adoption and children into drug abuse.

The public hearing will be organised at Government Observation Home, Ariyankuppam, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. For more details contact 2200088.
