Fact-finding team of fisherfolk forum to visit Kanniyakumari

A fact-finding team led by National Fisherfolk Forum chairperson M. Ilango is on a three-day visit to Kanniyakumari from Saturday to meet the families of fishermen from the district who went missing after Cyclone Ockhi.

In a release, M. Ilango said Cyclone Ockhi had left a trail of destruction in Kanniyakumari district. There was no information about the casualties and damage to property and fishing boats.

The fact-finding team will look into the disaster preparedness of the district administration before the onset of the cyclone.

The team will be camping in Kanniyakumari district till December 12 and submit a report with recommendations to the Central and State governments, he said.
