ESIC ties up with 8 private hospitals in Puducherry

Over 1 lakh to benefit from ‘Project Panchdeep’

The Employees State Insurance Corporation, under its ambitious IT Roll out Programme titled ‘Project Panchdeep,’ has enrolled more than 1 lakh Insured Persons (IP), said R. Gunasekaran, regional director, ESIC, Puducherry.

Briefing reporters about the ESIC fortnight celebrations under the publication policy here on Wednesday, he said the scheme would ensure that the insured Persons avail themselves of ESI facilities anywhere and anytime in the country. The work on issue of two identification cards to each IP (one for himself and one for his family) for availing themselves of the benefits from any institution of ESI at any place, which began in the Puducherry region in December 2010, had been progressing well. Till January 31, more than 1 lakh IPs had been enrolled by capturing their photo and bio-metric details and their dependants.

Nirmala Ayyer, State Medical Commissioner, said networking and hardware installation by the system integrator had also been completed in this region. This would cover dispensaries, hospital, branch offices, State directorate and regional office. The whole system ensured that online and offline services to the stakeholders’ right from registration of new employees to making payment directly to their bank account, hassle-free treatment from dispensaries to hospitals and super specialty institutions.

Mr. Gunasekaran added that in order to remove the difficulties being faced by ESI beneficiaries and for making available super specialty treatment and investigations in a hassle-free and cash-less manner, the Corporation had authorised the State Medical Commissioner to tie up with reputable hospitals and institutions all over the State to provide hassle-free, cash-less service to Insured Persons and their families. Under the scheme, the entire expenditure on Super Specialty Treatment to ESI beneficiaries was totally borne by the ESI Corporation outside the ceiling. In Puducherry, as many as eight leading hospitals had been identified for providing special treatment to ESI members.

D. Yogananda Rao, Deputy Director, ESI, said that it had arranged as many as nine programmes in Puducherry and Karaikal up to March 7 to create awareness of the services offered by ESIC to its members.
