Elaborate arrangements for Liberation Day

Elaborate arrangements have been made to celebrate the 60th Liberation Day (De Facto Merger Day) of Puducherry.

Chief Minister N.Rangasamy will unfurl the tricolour flag near Gandhi Thidal, Goubert Avenue (Beach Road) in the presence of Ministers and elected representatives. He will inspect the Liberation Day Parade and take salute from various contingents.

As part of the celebrations, various cultural programmes will be held on Saturday.

Traffic arrangements

In view of the celebrations, the Traffic Police has prohibited entry of all vehicles, including bicycles, into beach road between 6 a.m and 1.30 p.m.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister Mr. Rangasamy extended his greetings to the people in the Union Territory of Puducherry.

Greetings

Extending his greetings to stalwarts of Puducherry’s freedom movement, Mr. Rangasamy said that November one is a historic day as it was on this day in 1954 did Puducherry become free from French rule.

On Saturday evening, Lieutenant Governor A.K.Singh and Chief Minister Mr. Rangasamy will honour freedom fighters.

Governor’s felicitations

Lieutenant Governor A.K.Singh has extended his warm felicitations to the people of Puducherry.

In his message, Mr. Singh said, “Post its merger, the Union Territory of Puducherry has progressed on all fronts. The socio-economic progress curve has shown a steady ascent, so much so, it has been top-ranked in the Health and Education indices of the nation.”

Calling upon the people to re-dedicate to development of Puducherry, Mr. Singh said, “ Let us re-dedicate ourselves, to contribute our efforts for the progress and development of the Union Territory.”
