Drivers killed as two private omni buses collide head-on

Drivers of two private omni buses were killed and 36 passengers were injured when the vehicles collided head-on at Thyagadurgam on the Ulundurpet-Salem four-lane highway on Tuesday.

The victims were identified as Ramesh and Adaikalam.

According to the police, one of the private bus was proceeding from Chennai to Tirupur when it collided with the Chennai-bound private omni bus from Pollachi.

While the two drivers died on the spot, the injured were admitted to hospitals. Traffic was disrupted on the highway for over two hours due to the accident. A case has been registered. The police are investigating.
