Drive to create database of tenants

As part of larger efforts to control criminal activity in the Union Territory, the police have launched a drive to collect information on tenants from house owners.

According to sources, Director-General of Police P.Kamaraj has directed the officials to collect the details of tenants from house owners for creating a database in Puducherry.

Special camps

K. L. Viravallabane, Inspector, Orleanpet police station, said, “Special camps that were conducted at the police stations received good response from the public. We also checked whether the tenants had any criminal antecedents.”

Explaining the backdrop of the initiative, the officials said that of late crimes committed by tenants had substantially increased in the city.
