The government has issued a notification reconstituting the committee for delimitation of municipal wards, commune panchayat wards and village panchayat wards and also for determining reservation of seats on the basis of Census 2011.
Originally, the committee was constituted under G. Panneerselvam, a retired Additional Secretary, as Chairman on May 22, 2013.
Fresh notification
In the fresh notification, the government said some of the officials notified earlier are being frequently transferred, the new composition of the committee will be Mr. Panneerselvam, Chairman, V. Nagarajan, (Retired) Deputy Director, the Commissioner, Puducherry Municipality, as members and the Director, Local Administration Department will be the Member-Secretary.
