After featuring some memorable cinema, the European Union Film Festival hosted by Alliance Francaise here will come to a close on Thursday.
Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi and Consul General of France Catherine Suard will be among the dignitaries at the closing ceremony, the highlight of which would be the screening of The Portuguese Falcon by João Leitão. The film is a satirical take on the anti-communist paranoia in the reign of a fascist despot in Portugal.
The festival was inaugurated on July 15 with the screening of the French film 3 Coeurs by Benoît Jacquot.
21 films from 21 nations
Since then, 21 films from 21 countries of the European Union were screened.
The festival has been held in various other cities before. Puducherry, where it was being hosted for the first time, featured the 22nd edition of the festival. In fact, on the opening day of the festival, Tomasz Kozlowski, Ambassador of the European Union to India, had mentioned that the European Union Film Festival had won a “special place in the Indian film calendar and in the hearts of viewers”.
According to the Alliance Française, the first European Union Film Festival in the city had been a great success, attracting an audience of over 2,000 film enthusiasts
