Counselling for B.Com., BBA and B.A (Economics) in the government arts and science colleges commenced on Monday at the Centralised Admission Procedures for Arts and Science Courses (Capasc) centre in Bharathidasan Government College for Women.
Nearly 160 seats were filled on the first day of the counselling.
A total of 2,830 seats are available in the two government colleges and four aided society-run government colleges in Puducherry.
As many as 7,427 applications were received and the rank list was released on June 30. Following this, counselling began for B. Com, BBA and B.A (Economics) seats.
The break up of seats in various streams is as follows: B. Com – 420, B. Com Co-operative Management – 60, B. Com – Corporate Secretaryship – 120, B. Com (Foreign Trade) – 60, BBA (General) – 100, BBA (Tourism) – 60 and BA (Economics) – 120.
The counselling for the 940 seats will go on till July 13.
In order to fill these seats, nearly 176 students were called for counselling on the first day. Out of this, 165 students attended the counselling.
By the end of the first day of counselling, nearly 160 students chose their seats. Secretary to Government G. Narendra Kumar presented the admission letters to students.
Director for Higher and Technical Education Yasam Lakshmi Narayana Reddy and Capasc Convenor P. Poongavanam were present.
