The executive meeting of Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) passed a resolution stating that the functioning of party and the government would reflect the wishes of the people.

The executive committee meeting was held under PCC president and Public Works Minister A.Namassivayam on Sunday. Chief Minister V.Narayanasamy, other Ministers and senior functionaries took part in the deliberation.

The committee passed resolutions thanking Congress president Sonia Gandhi and DMK president M.Karuananidhi who were instrumental for the alliance winning in the Assembly election and paving the way for a Congress government in the Union Territory.

Workers thanked

They also expressed gratitude to the workers of party and allied parties who worked for the victory of the alliance.

Later talking to reporters, Mr. Namassivayam said people of Puducherry gave the mandate for the Congress to form the government while they consigned the AINRC to the role of Opposition. Respecting the mandate of people, AINRC president and former Chief Minister N. Rangasamy should come forward to function as Opposition party and to serve the public.

Mr. Namassivayam said the Congress government would not be partial in its services and would strive to provide equal growth to all regions of Puducherry.

Replying to a question on the proposed contest of Chief Minister Narayanasamy in Assembly polls, Mr. Namassivayam said it would be decided at an appropriate time.

Raj Bhavan MLA K.Lakshiminarayanan was conspicuous by his absence. Speaker V.Vaithilingam came to the venue and accepted the greetings of the party functionaries.

Rahul Gandhi’s birth day

The meeting also decided to celebrate Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s birth day as ‘ Day of hope for youth’ on June 19 across the Union Territory.
