Boat race for fishermen

The Indian Coast Guard, Puducherry Headquarters has organised a boat race for fishermen on January 26 as part of the 38th Coast Guard raising day which falls on February 1.

A release said the fibreglass boat race will start at 3 p.m. on January 26 from the Puducherry port and end behind the Gandhi statue. Two fishermen from each hamlet can register for the race.

The winner of the race would be given a cash prize of Rs.5,000. The first and second runner up would be given a cash prize of Rs.3,000 and Rs.2,000 respectively. The prizes would be given by the Lieutenant Governor A.K. Singh to the winners during the 38th Coast Guard raising day celebrations.
