The local unit of Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday celebrated the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a grand manner. Party functionaries and cadre organised various events in all the 30 Assembly constituencies of the Union Territory.
The day-long activity included distribution of welfare assistance to the needy and enrolling senior citizens in insurance schemes launched by the Union government.
Camps were held in Raj Bhavan and Oulgaret to enrol people in the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana.
President of the local unit of the BJP and nominated legislator V. Saminathan led a sapling planting exercise at Jawahar Balbhavan.
The party also distributed 300 saplings to people. The cadre donated blood at the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research and blood banks.
A medical camp was held in Thengaithittu.
The legal cell of the BJP also organised seminar on various issues.
