Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi on Friday invited woman sanitary workers to celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8.

The celebration was dedicated to the women of Swachhata Corporation, who were rendering their services in the most difficult environment at the risk of their own hygiene.

During the occasion, women volunteers rendered songs, danced and celebrated. Lieutenant Governor said that on behalf of Puducherry, she was thanking the swachh army for keeping the Union Territory neat and clean. Their work had been recognised by the people and thanks to their good work, the tourists flocking Puducherry were all praise for its cleanliness.

The Lieutenant Governor conveyed that the market association had offered assistance to them and the associations would be competing to earn the title of cleanest market. The swachhata workers of the market area would be recognised. The army of swachh workers was advised to bring their problems to the attention of their supervisor for corrective action.

She added that the representatives of the market association would take part for better coordination in the endeavour towards ‘Swachh Puducherry’.
