Bedi surprised to find her works in Neyveli Book Fair

The country’s first woman IPS officer has authored over 15 books in English and Hindi.

Lt. Governor Kiran Bedi was pleasantly surprised to find some of the books authored by her featured at the 19th Neyveli Book Fair.

It was while browsing through the variety of books put up for sale at the event that Ms. Bedi found some of her own works on display.

Being hosted for the 19th successive year since inception in 1998 by the Neyveli Lignite Corporation, the current edition of the book fair is offering over 10,000 titles from about 150 publishers.

“This is the best book fair in South India and it fascinates me when I go through the books on such a broad variety of topics. Besides, I was delighted when I noticed the books written by me kept for sale,” Ms. Bedi remarked.

The country’s first woman IPS officer has authored over 15 books in English and Hindi. The Lt. Governor, who was visiting the book fair on an invitation from the NLC management, was welcomed at Neyveli House by S.K. Acharya, NLC CMD.

Arriving at the book fair, she was greeted by S. Sridhar, CGM (PR, Education & CSR) and secretary of the 19th Neyveli Book Fair-2016.

She was later escorted around the pavilions by a team of officials that included Rakesh Kumar, Director (Finance) and N. Muthu, ED (HR).

G. Vijaya, District Collector (i/c), Cuddalore, was also present.

Meanwhile, a few school students, who identified the dignitary crowded around Ms. Bedi for an autograph.

“Success in one’s life starts with reading of books. School children should develop the reading habit, from the tender age; through which, one can develop knowledge,” she said.
