Bail denied for 11 in kidnap case

The Sessions Court here has denied bail to all the 11 accused in the case of abduction of the manager of a home appliance company.

When the petition came up in court, the Principal District and Sessions Judge P. Velmurugan declined to grant bail.

The 11-member gang is alleged to have abducted V. Udayakumar (42) for ransom earlier this month.

Mr. Udayakumar is the AINRC party member and a manager of the Whirlpool unit in Thirubhuvanai .

His brother Rajkumar lodged a complaint with Villianur police that Udayakumar had been taken away to Chennai by three persons posing as Income Tax officials.

Police custody granted

In a related development earlier on Thursday, a magistrate court has remanded four of the accused to police custody for a period of three days.
