August could be the month of the adrenaline rush in the city — Aura 2016, hosted by the Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), gets under way on August 3, followed later in the month by JIPMER’s flagship Spandan inter-Medical Collegiate campus fest.

Organisers of the seventh edition of Aura-2016 have readied six venues to stage the events (between August 3 and 6).

‘Five tiers’

The competitive events have been grouped by five ‘tiers’ — cultural, miscellany with a treasure hunt highlight, solo and duet dance and adzap, dumb charade, spellbee, the fashionista challenge, quiz and collage-creation and tattoo designing among the creativity challenging events.

According to PIMS, the events are designed to bring out the best in the medicos — the talented photographer, the effortless musician, or the flawless dancer. Every performance will be judged by a panel of celebrities.

Athletes too have a variety of events to strut their talents — from basketball to hockey and power lifting.

AURA’s special section has been the contest among campus rock bands — this time the winners of the Battle of Bands, held in collaboration with MTVi xtreme, earn the rights to a shout out by MTV across their media platforms and a chance to open music festivals organised by MTV.
