The Opposition AIADMK has charged the government with causing chaos among the students and parents without taking a firm stand on the National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET).
AIADMK Legislature party leader A. Anbalagan told presspersons here on Friday that Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy was hoodwinking the students as the DMK working president M.K. Stalin was doing in Tamil Nadu.
The Chief Minister should have come out with firm announcement either by adopting a Bill in the Legislature or approached the Centre for exempting Puducherry from NEET-based selection of students.
‘No communication’
However, the Chief Minister had not even written a firm letter to the Centre for exempting Puducherry from NEET. Instead of taking any practical steps, the Chief Minister was trying to hold a meeting. A meeting of the legislators was convened. But it was cancelled on the ground that Health Minister Malladi Krishna Rao was not in station.
"If Mr. Rao could not be in station, the Chief Minister could speak on his behalf. Normally, the Chief Minister was presenting replies in the Assembly during question hour and on other occasions with regard to subjects held by Malladi Krishna Rao,” he said. The AIADMK wanted Lt. Governor Kiran Bedi to come forward and convene a special session of the Assembly to evolve a draft Bill for earmarking 50% quota of seats for Puducherry government-sponsored students in private medical colleges.
