As a fallout of the party’s showing in the Puducherry Lok Sabha constituency, the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam on Monday removed the present State secretary A. Anbalagan from the post and appointed party MLA P. Purushothaman as secretary-in-charge as an interim arrangement.
Mr. Purushothaman joined the AIADMK in 1983.
He was elected as MLA from Ariyankuppam in 1985 and again in 2011 in Manaveli.
AIADMK sources said the change in the organisation was prompted by the adverse verdict in the Lok Sabha elections.
In an official release issued in Chennai, the AIADMK General Secretary and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa said the present State unit secretary Mr. Anbalagan and Puducherry State unit Jayalalithaa Peravai secretary Om Sakthi Sekar have been relieved from their respective party posts.
She also asked party men to extend their cooperation to the newly appointed Mr. Purushothaman.
