A mural painting workshop-cum-exhibition is under way at Kalarigram, Auroville. A Kerala-based artist A. Binil organised the workshop which features Kerala-style mural paintings.

Mr. Binil said, “This is an effort to spread awareness about the Kerala-style mural paintings. This workshop is an exciting opportunity to explore the world of mural painting through traditional practices as a fine art.”

Kerala mural paintings are frescos depicting mythology and legends, which are drawn on the walls of temples and churches.

The traditional paintings can traced back to the 9th to 12th centuries when this form of art enjoyed royal patronage.

Binil experiments in different ways with his work while staying true to the essence of the style.
