300 take part in healthy baby contest

Around 300 children in the 0-5 age group took part in the ‘Healthy Baby Show’ conducted by the Department Of Community Medicine, Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences, at the Anaichikuppam Rural Health Centre on Thursday.

Children from nearby areas, schools and anganwadi centres in Villupuram and Puducherry participated .

The participants were given information on healthy and nutritious food through a demonstration by the Department of Dietetics and Nutrition, and a role play by students of the Nursing College. Paediatrician P. Nalini took questions from parents on children’s health. John Abraham, Director and Principal of PIMS, spoke about the need to inculcate healthy habits in children.

Prizes were given to winners in various age segments of the contest based on a set of health parameters and medical examination.
