‘Change-makers’ get a platform for showcasing their ideas

Social innovation and entrepreneurship hogs the limelight at a conclave

The two-day “Changemaker Youth Conclave”, which concluded here on Saturday highlighted how problem-solving youth can be game-changers by creatively and solving social problems through empathy-based entrepreneurial solutions and collaboration.

More than 30 youth (aged 12 to 20) and 15 teachers participated in the event held on Friday and Saturday. The Changemaker Youth Conclave, initiated by Ashoka India’s Youth Venture programme and supported by Sri Aurobindo Society, aims at establishing a system that values and supports young people to be change-makers.

The sessions during the two-day conclave introduced the concept of change-making among the youth and drive home the concepts and practical applications of social innovation and entrepreneurship. The conclave will be a platform to spread ideas about the social innovation and throw light on some models that were acting as change agents.

Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi shared her lifestory and many anecdotes to encourage the Ashoka Youth Venturers. The youth questioned the ways to face challenges and solve them.

The event had eminent speakers, including Pradeep Narang, Chairman, Sri Aurobindo Society; Ajit Singh, Ashoka Fellow and Founder, Anant Learning; Gyanendra Acharya, Founder, Ekistics Solutions; Sairee Chahal, Aspen Fellow and Founder, Sheroes; Tara Rao, Founder, OntheGrounds, ex-Senior Policy Advisor, WWF; Satish Kumar, President, IIMPACT and Former MD, Henkel India; Ram Gopalan, Leadership Coach, former VP and Country Manager SapientNitro; Subhendu Dey, Director, Rajalakshmi School of Business; Ved Prakash Sharma, Director, CISCO; Ashish Mittal, Founder, Turning Ideas, and Shashikumar Velath, Asia Leader, Social Innovation Strategy, Ashoka Innovators for the Public.

The programme attracted students, parents, and people from various sections of society.
