Navi Mumbai: Two junior college students died on Sunday after the bike they were riding crashed into a state transport bus that had halted at a bus stop in Kalamboli on Sion-Panvel highway.
Around 8.30 a.m., Kalamboli resident Farhan Naseem Shaikh (18) and Kamothe resident Sachin alias Harsh Mishra (17) went on a ride towards Panvel on Shaikh’s sports bike. “The bike was speeding, and Shaikh, who was riding it, did not realise that the bus ahead him had stopped. He rammed into the bus. The duo was rushed to MGM Hospital, where they were declared dead,” senior police inspector Kondiram Pophere from Kalamboli police station said.
Assistant police inspector Ramdas Palve said they didn’t have licences and were not wearing helmets. A case of rash and negligent driving has been registered against Shaikh.
