Navi Mumbai: The Rabale MIDC police on Sunday evening arrested two youths for killing a truck driver whose vehicle came in their way while jogging. The duo, identified as Vikas Hasure (20) and Rahul Bagul (23), both residents of Bheem Nagar in Rabale, was preparing for the police recruitment exam.
According to senior police inspector Chandrakant Katkar, the duo had been jogging for the last three months at around 5 a.m. “The duo did not have an intention to kill and what happened was out of anger,” said Mr. Katkar. The CCTV cameras on Thane-Belapur road, where the incident occurred, had captured the incident, but the images were of poor quality.
Informers’ help
“We traced the accused through our informers. This road is not commonly used for jogging and walking; so we first investigated about who used the road for jogging and then zeroed in on the accused since the complainant had said that they were in their early twenties,” said Mr. Katkar. The accused were produced before the magistrate court on Monday and remanded in judicial custody.
The incident occurred on Wednesday when the duo was on their regular jogging outside Shivaji Flour Mill where Anil Damu Balshankar (48) worked as a driver.
