Injures two after ramming car into autorickshaw in Andheri

Singer and television show host Aditya Narayan was arrested on Monday for allegedly ramming his car into an autorickshaw and injuring the driver and passenger at Lokhandwala Complex in Andheri.

Police officials said that Mr. Narayan, who is the son of playback singer Udit Narayan, drove his Mercedes Benz into autorickshaw near Indralok Building in Lokhandwala on Monday afternoon. A police officer said, “The driver, Rajkumar Palekar (64), and the passenger, Surekha Shivekar (32), were injured in the collision. Mr. Narayan took both of them to Kokilaben Ambani Hospital in Andheri for treatment.”

The hospital authorities informed Versova police about the incident and a team of officers was sent to the hospital to conduct inquiries.

The officer said that based on Ms. Shivekar’s statement, Versova police registered a complaint against Mr. Narayan under Sections 279 (rash driving), 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act. Mr. Narayan was later released on spot bail of ₹10,000.
