Tutor held for forcing minor student into unnatural sex

Incident took place during class picnic

Mumbai: Police arrested a 39-year-old man who runs tuition classes in Sector 3, Airoli for an alleged unnatural sexual act with his 17-year-old student. According to the police, the victim, a Class XI student, had joined for Physics, Chemistry and Maths (PCM) classes with Deepak Coaching, run by Deepak Shendge, in May.

API Santosh Patil, Rabale police station, said, “In his complaint, the victim said after he joined the classes, the accused had been touching him inappropriately, but he did not realise his intentions. On Monday, the students were taken for a picnic to a farmhouse in Ratnagiri. All were sleeping in groups in different rooms, and the victim was made to sleep with the accused in a room.

According to the complaint registered, around 2.30 a.m. on Tuesday, the accused forced the student into an unnatural sexual act with him. After the students returned to Navi Mumbai the same day, the victim informed his parents, and they filed a case against the tutor on Wednesday. The tutor has been arrested.”

Police said Shendge, has been running the classes for over seven years. He is married and has a son. He has been arrested under IPC sections 377 (unnatural sex) and 506 (criminal intimidation) and relevant sections of Protection Of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).
