Three bodies found in Vashi creek, Kharghar

Navi Mumbai: A fisherman, his son, and a resident of Chembur, who went missing in the heavy rain on Tuesday, were found dead, said the police.

In the first incident, the bodies of 55-year-old fisherman Sadanand Koli and his 28-year-old son Kailas were found in Vashi creek on Thursday and Friday.

Hailing from Hanuman galli in Koliwada, Kanjurmarg, the father-son duo left home at around 6.30 a.m. on Tuesday. After the family realised that they had gone missing, a case was registered with the Vikhroli police on Wednesday.

“The father-son duo used to go for fishing and stay inside Vikhroli creek for a day or two. They had a big engine boat inside which a small boat was kept which the duo used to lay the net.

At around 7 p.m. on Tuesday, the family tried to contact them, but they were unreachable. On Wednesday morning, their relatives started searching for them in the creek and found the smaller boat drowned near Vashi. The engine boat was nowhere to be seen; so the relatives registered a missing complaint,” said sub-inspector Shivprasad Dumal from Vikhroli police station.

“A case of accidental death has been registered. After the post-mortem, we will forward the reports to the Vikhroli police where the missing complaint was registered,” said an officer from Vashi police station.

Similarly, the body of Chidanand Devidas Basurkar (29), a resident of Poster Colony in Chembur, who had come for enjoying with his four friends at a waterfall in Kharghar, was found on Thursday.

“The friends initially went to Pandavkada, but since the security there did not allow them to enter, they decided to go the waterfall in Kharghar,” said an officer from Kharghar police station. The body had come flowing with the water till the golf course. A case of accidental death has been registered.

According to the police, none of the friends knew swimming.
