Mumbai: Alleging that the Shiv Sena and BJP are staging a ‘fake fight’ in the BMC, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray on Saturday asked Sena ministers to stop threatening to quit the government.

“This is nothing but drama by both parties. Shouldn’t there be a limit to fooling voters? They are fighting just to create a false picture. If Sena ministers really have their resignations ready, whom are they waiting for? Why don’t they simply resign?” Mr Thackeray said at his last campaign rally in Dadar for the BMC polls.

The MNS chief the BJP-Sena government was giving away huge tracts of Mumbai Port Trust land to private builders, while chopping down trees in Aarey Colony for a Metro car shed. “Why could the government not use Port Trust land for the Metro car shed?” Mr. Thackeray said.

Raj also targeted the BJP for its newspaper advertisements, saying Marathi newspapers charge ₹7.5 crore to ₹8 crore for full-page advertisement, and the party was placing advertisements in English, Hindi and Gujarati papers as well. “Where is the BJP getting the money from?”
