Ace shuttler Saina Nehwal opted to stay put in hospital on Sunday, a day after she underwent knee surgery, as she was advised against taking a flight for 48 hours after the procedure. She now plans to go to the airport directly from the hospital on Monday.
“Most people get a discharge and stay at the hotel for a day but she decided to rest at the hospital one more day,” said Dinshaw Pardiwala, head of the Centre for Sports Medicine and Director, Arthroscopy, at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital.
Dr. Pardiwala said, “She is doing very well. She is walking around normally now and without any support. She is progressing as expected.”
Post-operative rest
The former world number one will require post-operative rest for three weeks, followed by sport rehabilitation, physiotherapy and training. She will be fit to play only after four months, he added.
