Mumbai: The Thane Police Crime Branch on Monday got a non-bailable warrant from the Thane Sessions Court against actor Mamta Kulkarni, who was named as an accused in the multi-crore-rupee drug haul by the Crime Branch last year.

The Crime Branch had seized over 2,000 kilograms of ephedrine in April last year from various locations in Mumbai, Thane and Solapur. They had also arrested two accused, whose interrogation revealed involvement of Kulkarni and her husband, Vicky Goswami.

An officer with the Thane Police Crime Branch said, “We will be sending our personnel to Kulkarni’s last known addresses with copies of the warrant and will then file a report stating that it could not be served due to her absence. It is a formality that is necessary before the charge sheet could be filed in the case.”

Kulkarni is believed to be in Kenya at present.

Earlier this year, Goswami, along with three others, was extradited from Kenya to the U.S.A., as they were wanted in drug trafficking cases by the Drug Enforcement Administration.
