A 15-year-old boy has been arrested by the Tulinj police for allegedly raping a five-year-old girl.

Though the incident happened on May 4, the accused was nabbed in Nalla Sopara on Saturday. The boy has been sent to the Children’s Remand Home, Bhiwandi.

The boy, who was staying in Santosh Bhuvan, lured the girl by blindfolding her and led her to an empty tempo where he raped her.

After he absconded, the girl returned home crying, and complained of abdominal pains. A doctor, who examined her, confirmed the sexual assault.

The Tulinj police registered a case of rape under section 376 of the IPC and booked the accused under the provisions of the Protection of Children against Sexual Offences Act, 2012.
